Precision, focus and controlled shooting in beautiful woodland surroundings.

Archery – Calm, Control & Consistency
All Archery at March Hare Leisure is a structured, instructor-led discipline. Even complete beginners are shooting confidently within minutes. The challenge is simple but rewarding: develop consistent draw length, controlled breathing, steady aim and a clean release to group your arrows as tightly as possible around the centre of the target.
Archery rewards focus rather than strength. Small technical adjustments in stance, anchor point, release quickly improve accuracy and scoring.
Archery with us is suitable for ages 14 to 80 and requires no prior experience.
Don’t worry! You don’t have to wear Robin Hood costumes.
How Archery Sessions Run & Fit Into Your Day
Every session begins with a full safety briefing and demonstration. Instructors cover stance, nocking the arrow, draw technique, anchor point and sight picture.
Shooters begin with practice arrows before moving into structured scoring rounds. Sessions can be scored individually, head-to-head or in team format depending on the group.
Our instructors remain hands-on throughout, offering clear, practical advice to help improve grouping and consistency. The improvement between first and final rounds is often dramatic.
Within multi-activity events, Target Archery is treated the same as any other shooting discipline, making it easy to mix and match with rifle, pistol, clays or crossbow as part of a balanced day.
Our Field Archery add-on is similarly treated as a full discipline slot within mixed packages. It is normally undertaken after a Target Archery session to ensure all participants are properly briefed and comfortable with the equipment. Groups with previous archery experience may discuss running Field Archery independently.
As a guide to timing, a two-discipline combination (for example Target Archery & Field Archery, or Archery & Rifle) for a group of 6–12 people typically takes around 2 hours from arrival, including sign-on, safety briefings and awards.
Pricing is simple: one Target Archery session or one Field Archery session is considered equivalent to any of our other shooting disciplines. This keeps event structure fair, flexible and easy to build around your group.
The Equipment & Range
We shoot primarily in a barebow format. This means no magnified sights, stabilisers or mechanical release aids, just the bow, the arrow, and the archer. It is widely regarded as one of the purest and most rewarding forms of modern archery.
Barebow offers a genuine taste of traditional archery. It strikes the ideal balance: accessible for beginners, yet technical enough to reward precision, consistency and focus.
Target Archery is typically shot at 8 yards. While that may sound close, it is still very missable, especially when consistency and scoring come into play. Tight grouping and clean technique quickly separate luck from skill.
We operate a large selection of high-quality recurve bows in a wide range of draw weights, allowing equipment to be matched appropriately to each participant. This ensures comfort, control and a far better shooting experience from the outset.
Our ranges are purpose-built with covered shooting positions and sheltered spectating areas, allowing sessions to run comfortably in most weather conditions.
All bows, arrows and safety equipment are meticulously maintained. Sessions are fully supervised at all times by experienced and qualified instructors.

Field Archery – Add-On Experience
For smaller groups or those wanting to extend their session, we offer a mini Field Archery course as an add-on to Target Archery.
We love running these sessions and our site is perfectly suited to it. The wooded and gently undulating terrain creates natural shooting lanes, varied footing and excellent vantage points, giving a far more immersive feel than a flat range.
Archers move between targets set at varying distances and angles through woodland and meadow. Target faces vary in size to simulate different field scenarios without endangering any of our woodland wildlife.
It adds variety, movement and a more dynamic challenge after completing structured target rounds, and works particularly well for small group exclusive sessions or as a way to “double up” the archery element within a wider multi-activity day.
Group Sizes & Bookings
Archery is most commonly run as part of our group-based events. The majority of groups we host are between 6–20 people, and this works exceptionally well for both Target and Field Archery.
Archery slots easily into mixed shooting or multi-activity days, either replacing one of the shooting disciplines or augmenting the day with minimal disruption to timing and flow. This flexibility makes it simple to build a balanced, engaging day for your group.
We also regularly cater for larger bespoke events of 60+ participants. These require additional planning and resource provision, but allow for flexible rotations, structured scoring, and team-based competition. If you’re planning a larger or more involved event, we’re happy to design a day around your group’s preferences and goals.
