Expert Instruction & A Great Introduction to Shooting

We primarily run group-based activities including corporate events, stag and hen parties, birthdays, and social groups, which means we regularly cater for novice and less-experienced shooters. That’s exactly where our experience really shines.

If you’ve never picked up a shotgun before, you’re very much the kind of guest we’re set up for. Our primary shooting stands are specifically designed as an introduction to the sport of clay pigeon shooting, allowing new shooters to build confidence quickly while still feeling challenged and rewarded when they start breaking clays.

Those who shoot regularly will still find plenty to enjoy, but what truly sets us apart from many traditional shooting grounds is our ability to introduce the sport to all comers. Our focus is on making sure everyone leaves having hit clays, learned something new, and enjoyed the experience.

We place strong emphasis on safety, proper instruction, comfort, and progression ensuring your day is enjoyable, and rewarding for every member of the group.

Guns & Comfort

To make clay pigeon shooting as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, we use a mix of 12 bore and 20 bore shotguns. This allows us to match the gun to each individual shooter, helping reduce recoil and fatigue, particularly for lighter-build shooters and those new to the sport.

Combined with low-recoil cartridges, this ensures first-time shooters can focus on technique and enjoyment rather than worrying about discomfort. Many guests are surprised by just how comfortable and confidence-boosting the experience feels.

Shooters who already have experience are welcome to use their own gun. However, we do require that all ammunition used on site is provided by us. This allows us to control noise levels, manage shot fall-out, and minimise environmental impact across the shooting ground.

Our Shooting Stands & Grounds

As standard, we like to work with any of three well-balanced and consistent clay stands: an incomer, a going-away bird, and a more challenging crosser. They are specifically set up to help new shooters build confidence on the easier target, then demonstrate how the sport can be so rewarding with harder, varied targets.

These stands are positioned to make the best use of our shooting shelters, allowing events to continue comfortably even if the weather isn’t perfect.

We can scale the difficulty, number of stands, and format to suit your group’s experience level, size, time available, and budget, whether you’re looking for a relaxed introduction or a more involved shooting-focused day.

We have the capacity to run up to 10 stand full day clay shooting events, even potentially including flurry style options for larger groups or more involved specific bespoke events. Please get in touch on that we would love to build one for you to suit.

How Clay Shooting Fits Into Your Day

On most events, clay pigeon shooting is run as a single stand with 10 shots per person, combined with other shooting disciplines and often karting. This works exceptionally well for group-based events, giving everyone a varied, engaging experience without overload.

One clay stand is treated the same as any other shooting discipline, making it easy to mix and match clays with rifle or pistol shooting as part of a balanced activity day. This flexibility is one of the things that makes our events so popular with all groups.

For groups that are particularly keen on clay shooting, we can very easily build on this for your event Additional stands can be added to create progression or extra challenge through different targets.

Pricing is simple: one clay stand is considered equivalent to any of our other shooting discipline, with 10 shots per person per stand on the clays. This makes it easy to mix and match activities while keeping the event structured and fair for everyone.

To give you an idea of timing a standard 2 stand clay session, or a clay & rifle combination for a groups of 6-12 people, typically takes around 2 hours from arrival, including sign-on, safety briefings, coffee breaks, and awards.

Safety & Equipment

Safety is our top priority at March Hare Leisure. All clay shooting events include:

Our approach guarantees that even first-time shooters can enjoy clay shooting safely, comfortably, and successfully — avoiding the frustration and bruises that sometimes occur elsewhere.

Group Sizes & Bookings

Clay pigeon shooting is most commonly run as part of our group-based events. The majority of groups we host are between 6–20 people, and our standard packages work exceptionally well at this size.

Clays integrate easily into mixed shooting or multi-activity days and are included as standard in several of our example itineraries. As with all of our shooting activities, we can swap other disciplines for clays or add additional clay shooting to suit your group. Take a look at our Multiactivity Days for inspiration, or get in touch to build a bespoke package.

We also regularly host larger bespoke events for 60+ participants. These require a little more advance planning, but allow for flexible formats, rotations, and competitive structures. If you’re considering a larger or more involved event, we’d be delighted to design a day around your group’s goals.
